Why Should I Learn to Knit Socks?
Hand knitted socks are a real treat for the feet. Not only are they cozy and comfortable but there's also something extra special and luxurious about slipping on a pair of soft hand knitted socks.
As a knitting project they have many elements to keep you interested as well as sections that don't require much concentration, so they can be great for social or TV knitting. And as they are a small project you can pop them in your bag and knit them whenever opportunity strikes!

What Materials Do I Need?
To knit your socks you will need:
-
- 1 x 3.5oz / 100g, 440 yd / 400m skein of sock, fingering or 4ply yarn. The yarn used in the pattern photos is Under the Olive Tree Knits Chora sock yarn in the Lavender Fields colourway (75% superwash merino / 25% nylon)
- 1 set of 2.5mm double pointed needles (or size needed to obtain gauge)
- 1 stitch marker (optional)
- 1 large blunt needle
- 1 tapestry Needle
When choosing the yarn for your socks I recommend looking for a yarn with nylon content or a high twist as this adds extra durability and strength.
