One Skein Shawl Knitting Kit - Chain Reaction (Choose Your Yarn)

The yarn used for the sample is 'The Birdwatcher' on the Sparkle Sock Base.

This kit contains:

• Your choice of 1 x 100g skein of 4 ply yarn
• 1 pattern (PDF or print)
• 1 removable marker

In addition you will need*:

• 1 x 80-100cm 3.75mm circular needle

About this Pattern

Cast on and get in the middle of a Chain Reaction!

This one is a fun and unique knit. The Chain Reaction shawl is worked from the top down with the body of the shawl knitted in simple stockinette to show off your yarn, and the fun part comes when you get to the border!

The loops are knitted in strips and joined as you go, it gets rather addictive creating the loopy loops and entwining them together. It also opens up lots of possibilities on how to wear the shawl, as you can use the loops to hold it in place by crossing it at the front, or you can weave the shawl back through the loops at the back to create a nice cozy cowl. You can have just as much fun styling it as it as you can knitting it!

This pattern is designed to showcase a beautiful hand-dyed skein, go as bold as you like.

When it comes to knitting the loops you can also try the technique of backwards or ‘mirror’ knitting – full details and video tutorials are provided in the pattern.

Stitches Used: Knit, purl, k2tog, p2tog, yo, 3 needle bind off, mirror knitting (optional – tutorials are provided)

Measurements: The finished blocked item measures 58” (147 cm) wingspan and 15” (38 cm) depth

Gauge: 22 stitches and 30 rows to 4 inches / 10cm in stockinette stitch after blocking
