New Pattern Release! Shallow Tide Shawl
Posted on
Hello ,
I am excited to release a brand new pattern today! The Shallow Tide shawl is now available to download directly from the website and Ravelry
Isn’t it a lovely, refreshing feeling to roll up your jeans and take a paddle through gently rolling waters on a warm, sunny day. It’s also a lovely feeling to skein up your yarn and cast on a fresh new project!
The Shallow Tide shawl is a one-skein, asymmetric shawl that uses texture to create ruched waves by combining stripes of classic stockinette and reverse stockinette. In addition, yarnover increases play with decreases to pull the stitches in different directions to add an extra splash of interest to the pattern. The result is a simple, classic shawl that would work equally as well in a highly-variegated yarn as it would in a solid colour. And when it comes to cast off your shawl, a pretty picot bind-off completes the final ripple. A video tutorial is linked in the pattern for how to work the bind-off.
This shawl would be a good project for an adventurous beginner, while more experienced knitters will find it a relaxing yet engaging project.
A handy stitch count checklist is also provided.

Here's what they had to say about this pattern:
“This is a wonderfully summery pattern! The increases and decreases creating waves through the shawl give a feeling of the shallow waves at the edge of the shore. I know I’ll be wearing this to beat the chill of a summer evening!” – Sabina
“This shawl is as flattering with a dress as it is with a pair of jeans.” – Karen
"Lovely pattern, straightforward, but interesting enough to keep attention. Another triumph for Jem!" – Jaynie
"Jem’s patterns are top rate. Always clear and I love the row by row stitch count chart. This one was a breeze to knit up and will be a wardrobe staple in any color." – Karen
"Jem is a master at creating new and interesting one skein patterns. Each pattern is always well written and includes a very handy Stitch and Row Counter!" – Sharon
"Another triumph from Jem. This well written pattern keeps the experienced knitter engaged and is just challenging enough for novice knitter to gain confidence in expanding their stitch competence (lots of k2tog, ssk and yo’s!). A beautifully squishy, textured and very attractive fabric is produced - I’m certain I’ll receive plenty of compliments when I wear this shawl!" - Angela
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you like the new pattern!
