About this Pattern

The Stargazer shawl embodies the spirit of a shooting star. A simple mesh of eyelets form zigzags which streak across the shawl. The solid bands of stockinette show off the nuances of the colorway you’ve chosen, like the night sky once your eyes adjust to the dark. The simple stitch patterns allow highly variegated yarns to shine. And just like a shooting star, this asymmetrical, one-skein shawl will be done in a flash!

If you are new to knitting lace, this shawl would be the perfect opportunity to give it a try. A video tutorial on how to work the [yo, k2tog] stitch combination is linked in the pattern and can be found here too

For full pattern details, including the materials required and the techniques used take a look at the pattern page here.

Customisable kits for the shawl are also available on the website - pick your favourite skein of yarn from the shop and then you can choose whether to add a 3.75mm KingPro Zing circular needle, a tin of 6 stitch markers and / or a mini project bag. You can also opt to have the pattern printed and posted with the kit. Click HERE for more details.

The pattern has been professionally tech edited by James Bartley and was tested by a fantastic group of test knitters too!

Thank you Donna, Jacqueline, Jaynie, Kim, Lisa and Sabina!

Join the Stargazer KAL this Summer!

The KAL will run until 31st August 2020 and the pattern will be available as a free download for the duration.

There are some fantastic prizes up for grabs including  hand dyed yarns from Fleabubs & Lala and Knitting Needle Lane and patterns from some very talented fellow designers. Full details of the prizes and the generous people who have donated them will follow in the next newsletter.

The KAL will run on Instagram, The Under the Olive Tree Knitters Facebook Group and on e-mail. To be in with a chance of winning simply post a picture of your finished shawl on either:

Or e-mail a picture of your finished shawl to [email protected]

A note on Ravelry -  As you may be aware, Ravelry launched a new look website recently, but the new site is causing many to experience eye strain and migraines. As such, the KAL will not be running on Ravelry. If you have been affected by the recent changes, or want to give some feedback they are currently running a survey where you can share your thoughts -

However, if you are comfortable using the new site and prefer to download your patterns on Ravelry so that they go to your pattern library, you can download the pattern from Ravelry here.

I hope you like the new pattern!
