Lace Shawl Knitting Kit - View From the Spire

This kit is dyed to order. Before purchasing this item please make a note of the yarn colour you would like included in the kit by visiting the Customise Your Colour page. Please also choose your bead colour from the Knitty Extras - Size 8 Beads page. You will be asked to specify these on the order.

This kit contains:

• 100g / 600m - 80% Extra Fine Merino / 20% Silk laceweight yarn
• 1000 x size 8 knitting beads 
• 1 pattern (PDF or print)
• 1 removable stitch marker
• An organza project bag

In addition you will need*:

• 1 x 80-100cm 3.5mm circular needle
• 1 x 0.75mm crochet hook

About this Pattern

Take your knitting to dizzying new heights with this beautiful lace shawl. The View from the Spire shawl was inspired by a glittering vista of snow and lights viewed from the top of the Hallgrimskirkja Church in Reykjavik, Iceland. Worked from side to side, the shawl is a journey back and forth through beaded lace that twinkles like the lights of the city below and the quiet calm of stockinette as smooth as untouched snow in the distance.

As you near the end of your shawl, the deeper lace section really showcases the glittering beads and you will see your own spires begin to emerge and decorate the border of your shawl. A lovely stretchy bind-off will allow for a beautifully scalloped edge to be formed when blocking.

Measurements: The finished blocked item measures 93” (236cm) wingspan and 16.5” (42cm) depth at the longest part
